How to use what this finds
What is an unlinked brand mention?
A page that talks about your brand, product or site without linking to it. They are the highest-converting link outreach that exists: the author already knows and cares about you, so asking them to add the link is a small, reasonable request.
Where does Mention Scout search?
Four public, free APIs: Hacker News (Algolia), GitHub repositories, Stack Exchange, and Bluesky. Every request goes straight from your browser to those services. Nothing is proxied, stored, or sent to this site's servers.
How does it know whether a mention links to me?
It checks whether any of your domains appear in the mention's text, URL or metadata. That is an approximation: a mention flagged 'no link found' is an outreach candidate to verify by opening it, not a guarantee.
Is automating link building safe?
Automating discovery and monitoring, like this tool does, is safe and standard. Automating link placement (bots posting links, mass submissions, link networks) violates search engine spam policies and gets neutralized or penalized. Find automatically; earn manually.
